NOIR NOTEBOOK
Following a recent support gig with Foals, Australian band Mitzi is getting set to release their anticipated debut album Truly Alive – Available February 15.
I asked Dominique Bird of Mitzi a few questions.
What would you rate as your top 5 albums of 2012?
Some albums we had on heavy rotation in 2012 were Tame Impala – Lonerism; Kendrick Lamar – Good Kid, Bad City; Kindness – World, You Need A Change Of Mind; Frank Ocean – Channel Orange; and Flying Lotus – Until The Quiet Comes.
What has been the highlight for the band thus far?
Finishing our debut album was quite a milestone.
Any tour specific highlights from your last string of dates?
Our ‘Who Will Love You Now’ tour was really fun, the Sydney show at GoodGod was definitely one to remember, such good vibes.
Given the choice – Rolling Stones or the Beatles… or neither?
No one should have to choose, we love them both.
How did the Foals support come about?
From what we heard from the promoter, they asked for us the join them. We jumped at the opportunity, we’re big fans.
What does 2013 have in store?
Our albums out in February, lot’s of touring and hopefully more studio time.
